Medical disclaimer. This page is educational and does not replace a clinical consultation. Recurrent infections, persistent nasal blockage, hearing changes, and snoring with breathing pauses require evaluation by a qualified doctor. Do not start, stop, or change any treatment based on the information here without speaking to a physician.

In our clinic, the most common first ENT visit has already finished two or three courses of antibiotics.

The sinus infection that recurs every three months. The allergy that doesn't settle no matter what is tried. The nasal blockage that nobody has scoped. The snoring the family complains about. The ear that has felt full for weeks.

Whatever brought you here, it has not been resolved by medication alone. That is where a senior ENT specialist becomes useful.

Respire Airway Clinics is a dedicated pulmonology, ENT, and sleep medicine practice in Hyderabad. A senior ENT surgeon works alongside two pulmonologists and a sleep physician in the same building. Two clinic locations: Basheer Bagh clinic in central Hyderabad, and Jubilee Hills clinic in west Hyderabad. One visit, one plan.

Our ENT specialist

Dr. Jyotika Waghray leads ENT care at both Respire clinics. You see her by name at your first visit. No rotating doctor pool.

Dr. Jyotika works in the same building as our pulmonologists and sleep team. When an ENT problem is driving a lung or sleep issue, the cross-referral is a corridor walk, not a separate booking. See our pulmonology team.

When you need an ENT, not your GP or a pulmonologist

Most ENT complaints in Hyderabad start at a general physician. That is reasonable. An ENT becomes the right doctor when one of the following is true.

Recurrent sinus infections (three or more in a year)
Nasal blockage that has not cleared in weeks
Loss of smell that did not return after a cold
Allergies that don't settle on antihistamines
Snoring with witnessed breathing pauses
Ear pain, blocked ear, or hearing change
Hoarseness or voice change lasting more than three weeks
Child with mouth-breathing, frequent infections, or adenoid concerns

The European Position Paper on Rhinosinusitis (EPOS 2020) defines chronic sinusitis as nasal symptoms lasting longer than 12 weeks, or three or more acute episodes in a year. Either pattern warrants ENT review with nasal endoscopy.

If your problem is in the chest or lungs rather than the nose, sinuses, or upper airway, an ENT vs pulmonologist read helps you choose. We work with both specialties under one roof, so a misrouted appointment is corrected without a second referral.

Conditions we treat

The scope below covers the bulk of adult and paediatric ENT. Each linked item opens a dedicated page where evaluation and treatment are explained in full.

Nose & sinuses

Allergy & airway

Ear & throat

Allergy testing and immunotherapy planning happen at the clinic. Procedural lung work (bronchoscopy, EBUS) is covered in our interventional pulmonology service.

Diagnostics and procedures available on-site

Diagnosis at most Hyderabad ENT clinics requires a second referral for allergy or audiometry testing. At Respire, the common diagnostics happen in the same visit.

Nasal endoscopy

A 5-minute look at the sinuses and back of the nose with a thin flexible camera. Done at the first visit if there is a sinus or nasal complaint.

Allergy testing (skin prick)

30-minute on-site test that identifies the specific allergens driving symptoms. Result is read and explained in the same visit.

Audiometry

Hearing test in a soundproof booth. Booked same-day where possible.

Tympanometry

Middle-ear pressure test, often paired with audiometry for blocked-ear complaints.

Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS)

Minimally invasive surgery to open blocked sinuses without external incisions. For chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps not responding to medical therapy.

Allergen immunotherapy planning

Long-term desensitisation via injections or sublingual drops, planned after the allergy test panel result.

Full surgical detail sits with our ENT procedures page.

What to expect at your first visit

Your first consultation is 30 to 45 minutes. Here is what happens, in order.

1

History

Symptoms, when they started, what makes them better or worse, current medications and nasal sprays.

2

Examination

Nose, ears, throat, neck.

3

Nasal endoscopy if there is a sinus or nasal complaint

5 minutes. The view is on a screen, so patients can see what we see.

4

Audiometry if there is a hearing complaint

Booked same-day where possible.

5

Allergy testing arranged if the pattern suggests it

Skin prick test can be done at the first visit if time allows, or scheduled within the week.

6

Report review

Bring any CT sinus scans, audiograms, or allergy tests done elsewhere. The plan is sharper when we read the existing record.

7

A written plan

Working diagnosis, further investigations, treatment plan, time horizon for review.

What to bring: any previous reports, CT sinus scans or audiograms on disc or PDF, a list of current medications and nasal sprays, and insurance details if you intend to claim.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does an ENT specialist treat?

Diseases of the ear, nose, throat, sinuses, and upper airway. The common ones: sinusitis (acute and chronic), allergic rhinitis, nasal polyps, deviated septum, ear infections, hearing loss, tinnitus, eustachian tube dysfunction, snoring, hoarseness, and tonsil or adenoid problems. ENT also handles head and neck surgery for adults and children.

When should I see an ENT instead of my GP?

Three rough rules. A sinus infection that recurs three or more times a year, or one that does not clear in three weeks, needs review. Nasal blockage that has not cleared in weeks needs review. Loss of smell that did not return after a cold needs review. A GP will refer you in most cases, but if symptoms are persistent or recurring you do not need to wait for that referral.

Do I need a referral to see an ENT at Respire?

No. You can book directly. Most first visits are self-referred. Bring any reports from doctors you have already seen and any CT sinus scans, audiograms, or allergy tests done elsewhere, as these speed the consultation.

Is allergy testing done at the clinic?

Yes. Skin prick allergy testing is done on-site, takes about 30 minutes, and the result is read at the same visit. Allergen immunotherapy planning (subcutaneous or sublingual) is arranged after the test, depending on what the panel shows.

What is the difference between an ENT and a pulmonologist for snoring or sleep apnea?

ENT looks at the upper airway: nose, soft palate, tonsils, base of tongue. A pulmonologist looks at the lower airway and lung function, and reads sleep studies. Most adult sleep apnea is upper-airway driven, so ENT often does the surgery side; a pulmonologist or sleep physician usually does the diagnosis and CPAP setup. At Respire both clinicians sit in the same building, so the cross-referral is a same-day handoff rather than a separate booking.

How much does an ENT consultation cost in Hyderabad?

Consultation fees in Hyderabad range broadly. Respire publishes the current fee at booking. Nasal endoscopy cost, if needed at the first visit, is stated before the test is done. No add-on charges appear later.

Is FESS surgery painful and how long is the recovery?

FESS (Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery) is done under general anaesthesia, so the surgery itself is not painful. Most patients describe the first three to five days as a heavy cold feeling rather than sharp pain. Nasal packing, if used, comes out at the follow-up visit. Most office workers return to non-strenuous work in 7 to 10 days. Full healing of the sinus lining takes 4 to 6 weeks.

Most ENT complaints get a clearer answer in one 30-minute visit at a focused airway clinic than in three rotations of antibiotics over six months. If the sinus, allergy, ear, or snoring problem has lasted longer than it should, the next step is a single consultation with a named doctor who owns the plan.

We see patients with concerns they have not yet discussed elsewhere. Your consultation is confidential.
